Why Is A Logo So Important?

Every company, large or small, needs a symbol. A recognizable token of their existence that translates that company’s message succinctly and without confusion. In the industry, we call that token of existence a logo.

By definition, a logo is nothing more than an identifying symbol for use in advertising (that’s how Webster’s defines it anyway). Now that we know what a logo is, the question becomes why should we have one?

To Stand Out

Your business is as unique to the world as you are. Having a professional logo allows you to translate that uniqueness and reveal your specific identity to your potential clients. It will immediately separate you from other businesses and allow you to easily be identified. This is why your logo should stand out and grab people’s attention.

To Set The Stage

You want your logo to set a strong first impression with your potential clients. Making it simple, elegant, and clean can certainly help draw their eyes to your logo and thus to your business. A logo shouldn’t just get any person interested in your business. It should get the right person interested. If your logo is poorly designed, it may turn away the very people you intend to market to, and that’s no good!

To Send A Message

A good logo should speak to the personality and identity of the business it represents. It should make clear the general feeling of the business and invoke a certain emotion. A playful and casual business should have a fun logo that represents its light and whimsical attitude, while a serious and professional business should have a logo that is more straightforward. The wrong type of logo can translate the wrong message, which can impact your business negatively.

To Be Memorable

Part of the reason we chose the name 2 Odd Ravens for our business is because it tends to stick in the minds of our clients. A good logo will do the same. Your logo should have staying power and be something that your buyers can recall easily. Think about how many logos you can recognize even without the name of the business being present. These companies spend lots of money making sure that logo appears on all of their advertisements and marketing materials because they want you to remember it.

You want your clients to remember your logo in the same way. This is where the term “brand loyalty” comes into play. The more memorable the logo, the stronger the brand. This will lead to customers trusting the brand which means more sales for you!
