We have talked a lot about ways you can create unique and cohesive branding, but we haven’t really spoken much about our own business over the last several weeks and how it can help you accomplish the branding suggestions we have made.
We’re Andrea and Johnny and we’re the founders of 2 Odd Ravens Creative Services, LLC. Our job as small business owners is to help bring the branding visions of other small business owners to fruition through personal branding photography and custom digital illustrations. The 2 Odd Ravens studio is based in Columbia, Maryland; however, we do work on location when the occasion calls for it.
We thought we might take a moment to break down how our photographic process works, as we understand it might differ some from experiences you’re familiar with.
1. The Consultation
Before we ever actually have a photoshoot, we like to get to know our clients. This includes learning about their specific needs (hair and makeup), the vision they have in mind for their shoot (brand colors, props, wardrobe, setting), products they may need (digital files or printed images to display in their shop), personal insecurities, and budget. Everyone comes to us with different goals in mind and we truly work collaboratively with our clients to pull things together and to make sure we’re all on the same page on the day of the shoot. Our consultations are typically in-person to give our clients an opportunity to see and feel our heirloom quality products up close and personal and so that they can see our studio space, but we do sometimes have consultations digitally.
2. The Photo Shoot
Our photoshoots are always so much fun! On the day of your shoot, you’ll get started nice and early with hair and/or makeup by one of our fabulous, caring, and professional stylists. We have been known to have tasty wine and cheese, mimosas, or even strawberry shortcakes and sweet treats from local bakeries at our shoots for clients to munch on as they get ready. Once hair and makeup are done, we create a multitude of images based on the wardrobe and props we discussed during the consultation. We also have a pretty extensive wardrobe and have styled our clients right on the spot when they needed a little extra help or wanted to play dress up. Our shoots usually last around 45 minutes to an hour.
3. Ordering Session and Reveal
Get ready for your big debut! About two weeks after your photoshoot, you’ll be invited back to our studio to view and order your images. This is a pretty special day at the 2 Odd Ravens studio! Based on your personal needs, your images will either be displayed on a screen in our ordering room, or you’ll see them printed and matted and displayed in the ordering room if you’ve expressed interest in tangible products. If you’re interested in matted 8x10 prints or digital files only, you can leave the very same day with your products in hand or easily downloadable from the web. If you want a product like wall art (framed images or canvas) or an album or folio box, you’ll be able to pick those products up in another few weeks.
4. Order Pickup (Or Drop Off)
If you have ordered wall art or another item that needs to be ordered from one of our fabulous vendors, you’ll be invited back within 4 weeks of your ordering session to pick up your beautiful products, or we can make arrangements to deliver them to you personally.
5. Refer us
If you’re happy with our service (and we certainly hope that you are!) don’t forget to refer us to your friends! We love working with friends and family members of our past clients.
So, there you have! That is how we provide photographic services to our small business clients. Making sure that our clients get images that they love is clearly important to us, but we also take a great deal of care in making sure that the experience is amazing as well!
